Helmrun Terms of Service

1. Service Description

Helmrun is a family scheduling assistant web application. You can forward family-related emails (school communications, sports schedules, camp confirmations, medical appointments, and similar) to a shared Helmrun address. Helmrun uses artificial intelligence to extract scheduling information from those emails and adds events to your Google Calendar, detects conflicts, and sends a weekly summary digest to your household.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Illinois to create a Helmrun account. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements. If Helmrun determines that you do not meet these requirements, we may suspend or terminate your account.

Helmrun is currently operating in private beta in Illinois only. Access is granted by invitation.

3. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify Helmrun immediately at hello@helmrun.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. Helmrun is not liable for losses caused by unauthorized use of your account.

You may not share your account with others outside your household. Each household unit should maintain one Helmrun account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Helmrun for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Impersonate any person or entity or falsely represent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Helmrun system or another user's account.
  • Transmit any material that is harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Use automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or collect data from Helmrun.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
  • Use the Service in a manner that could damage, disable, or overburden our infrastructure.

    • 5. Family Data and Minor Household Members

    Helmrun is designed for use by adults managing their household. If you create profiles for minor household members (children under 18), you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian of those minors and that you are authorized to share their scheduling information with Helmrun on their behalf. Minor household members do not have independent accounts and do not interact directly with the service.

    Data about minor household members is collected from and at the direction of the parent or guardian account holder. Helmrun treats minor members' scheduling information (names, ages, school and activity schedules) as sensitive data and does not share or use it for advertising purposes.

    6. Intellectual Property

    Helmrun and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Sirket Holdings and are protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of any personal data you upload or forward to the Service. You grant Helmrun a limited, non-exclusive license to process that data for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you.

    7. Third-Party Services

    Helmrun integrates with and relies on third-party services to operate. By using Helmrun, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • **Anthropic / Claude AI** — Email content is transmitted to Anthropic's API to extract calendar events. Anthropic's use of your data is governed by [Anthropic's Privacy Policy](https://www.anthropic.com/privacy). Helmrun uses Anthropic's API under a commercial agreement that prohibits Anthropic from using customer data to train its models.
  • **Google Calendar** — Helmrun writes events to your Google Calendar via the Google Calendar API. Your use of Google services is governed by [Google's Terms of Service](https://policies.google.com/terms) and [Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy).
  • **Mailgun** — Helmrun receives inbound emails and sends digest emails via Mailgun. Mailgun's privacy policy is available at [mailgun.com/privacy-policy](https://www.mailgun.com/privacy-policy/).
  • **Supabase** — Your account data and family scheduling information are stored in Supabase's U.S.-based infrastructure. Supabase's privacy policy is available at [supabase.com/privacy](https://supabase.com/privacy).
  • **Vercel** — The Helmrun application is hosted on Vercel. Vercel's privacy policy is available at [vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy](https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy).
  • **Stripe** *(future)* — Billing will be handled by Stripe. This section will be updated when billing is implemented.

    THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. HELMRUN DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

    Helmrun's AI-powered email parsing may produce errors. Calendar events added automatically should be reviewed by you for accuracy before acting on them. Helmrun is not responsible for any action taken or not taken based on information extracted from forwarded emails.

    9. Limitation of Liability

    TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL HELMRUN OR ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

    IN NO EVENT SHALL HELMRUN'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID HELMRUN IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM (OR $100 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID ANYTHING).

    10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

    These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois.

    11. Changes to Terms

    We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by displaying a notice in the application. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will maintain a record of previous versions.
